How to read this data

Firm roll-up: office listings sharing a reported website hostname are grouped. Common directories/social sites are excluded; missing or ambiguous websites remain separate. Each firm earns at most one top-three count per sampled point. This is a website-based grouping, not verified legal ownership. Drill into the offices to check the grouping and claim an individual pin.

Metro versus client grids: these broad discovery samples cover a city region at wide spacing. Their coverage is not a PlatinumProfile client-grid score, does not estimate performance around a particular office, and must not be compared or averaged with those scores. APIs and weekly reports label this metric separately.

Grid versions: coastal/lakeside cities may use an off-center square in future runs to reduce major-water sampling. Historical coordinates remain unchanged; comparisons require matching coordinates and a changed grid starts a new baseline. Land is not proof of demand, and empty results are not proof of water. A coarse Natural Earth land/lake mask informs planning; it is not parcel-level mapping.

One saved firm report: select an office and open its firm report. Confirm your email once for a combined summary covering search results, branded demand, Maps and AI. Email confirmation does not establish ownership. Existing pin subscriptions remain available; you can consolidate them when saving your report.

Explorer measurement: a random first-party browser ID measures visits and returns. Confirmed subscriptions can be associated with visits from their confirmation or report links. We log feature usage and selected listing IDs, not email-open pixels. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control disable browser event tracking. Cookies identify a browser, not a person; clearing them or changing devices affects counts.

How firmly is each Maps cell held?

These are relative descriptions of observed incumbents, not forecasts that your firm can win. Proximity, relevance and factors not measured here still matter. Enter your office address to request a personal assessment.

Open: all three offices are farther from the sample than the market’s median top-three distance. This suggests an office-location investigation, not proof that no local firm exists. Soft: at least one top-three listing has reviews below the market’s bottom quartile or a rating under 4.5. A strong incumbent can coexist with that individual soft spot. Held: all three exceed the review median, rate at least 4.5 and are within the median top-three distance. Open takes precedence over Soft. Mixed means none of these rules fits; Unrated means insufficient data.

Contested: at least one listing entered the top three versus the prior weekly run, overriding the static label. Reordering the same three does not count. Comparison requires the same keyword, point coordinates, complete top threes, and a run from an earlier UTC week, 4–14 days apart. No previous data means no churn claim. One change does not establish a long-term trend.

Thresholds are recomputed separately for each city, keyword and run. Review quartiles use linear interpolation at 25%; review and rating benchmarks count each distinct top-three listing once; distance uses valid listing-to-point observations. At least ten known values for each measure are required. Null or invalid coordinates are excluded; Open and Held require all three distances. Incomplete top threes are not treated as vacancies. Partial scans can change the medians. The map does not force a mix of states. Additional sponsor markets, including Las Vegas, are listed separately from the original population-ranked launch set.

Maps uses 100 individual cells so broad-area aggregation cannot hide mixed evidence. Choose Hold states for cell evidence or Office locations for all offices with usable coordinates. Hold states hides office dots by default; Show office pins adds them. Branded search retains its separate office-density overlay.

The original 25 launch markets are the largest U.S. metropolitan statistical areas in the Census Bureau's July 2025 population estimates. Metro population describes the entire statistical area; it is not the population of the scan grid.

Branded-search estimates reuse BT's existing index and its source location, shown above. They cover indexed firms, not every firm in a market. Rounded search volumes are estimates, not client counts, revenue, or actual market share.

Maps visibility uses the same 100 geographic sample points per city for each keyword. The displayed grid is a defined sample around the city center, not the entire metropolitan boundary. A colored cell represents its sampled location only; rankings between points can differ. Each listing is tracked separately, so a firm with multiple offices may have several entries. Empty, failed, and pending samples are distinguished from a firm not appearing.

Top-three coverage is the number of successful sampled searches where that listing appeared in positions 1–3, divided by samples with returned listings for that keyword. During collection, the results are partial. Google Maps results are distinct from the local three-pack on Google's main search page. Sponsor placements do not affect ranking or ordering.
